Lotter Singapore – Is it For You?

Lotter Singapore is the largest lottery operator in Singapore. It offers a range of games, including 4D lottery, Toto lottery, sportsbook/sports betting, Horse Racing and Singapore Sweep. It is regulated under the Singapore Totalisator Board, and is a completely trustworthy, safe and legal avenue to place bets.

The amount Singaporeans and permanent residents spent on lotteries and sports betting last year was the highest in a decade, according to an estimate from the Tote Board. That amount is up 14% from the year before, even though it was impacted by the Covid-19 pandemic, which shut down two casinos for most of the financial year.

Seniors are also making bets more frequently on lotteries and football games. Ms Joey Tan, centre manager of Arise2care Community Services, said her centre has seen clients place more bets online because of the convenience.

Punters who ask people to buy lottery tickets on their behalf should check they are actually buying them from a legitimate seller. This was a problem for one woman who claimed to have won $200,000 in a Singapore Pools 4D lottery. She alleged that the friend she asked to buy the tickets disappeared, and she could not collect her prize.

If you find yourself gambling too much, you should get help. Individuals can call the National Council on Problem Gambling’s helpline or Webchat, and family members can apply for a family exclusion order to suspend an individual’s online betting account.

However, the money you earn from betting can easily become addictive. It’s a good idea to set aside some of your winnings to fund other things, and avoid the temptation to spend on vices like smoking or drinking.
